Removing the friday opening hours would mean i could no longer take my toddler to the library as he has to be in nursery 8:30-5 on Tuesdays because of my job. Being open on Fridays is particularly important for toddlers because it's the same time that toddlers is on in the hall which means many of the toddlers there go to back and forth enjoying the opportunity to read several different books each visit, greatly improving their vocabulary, social skills and encouraging good habits of reading instead of just screen time. Especially given the government has been recently saying that young children need to reduce screen time it's disheartening to hear that facilities such as our local library that offered the only facility in the village for parents to get access to more toddler books is being taken away. We need the library open more days not less.

Managing to adhere to particular days when library is opened- also Fairlie library is very convenient for the entire community- travelling to another library wouldn’t be always possible. Opening hours are already curtailed. Many residents are very elderly and it would be reducing access and opportunity.

      • It probably wouldn't impact me as if I was using the library and knew which day it was open then I would go on that day. I am retired however and know that is not an option open to everyone.
