We as a group support ech other and our children to explore our emotions and feelings. Many of our group members share collective experiences, this has made it easier to be honest with each other and creaate relationships. This allows us to build toolkits that support each indiviual family. This group hs become a safe space for many of us and has had such a positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing. This group supports people from all over North Ayrshire to come together, meet likeminded individuals and support mental health whilst focussing on topics such as anxiety and resilience. We have been able to bring alot of people in to speak to our group members that include First Aid, Nest and other information sessions. This has allowed us to build our own knowledge in promoting positive mental health for people within our community.
We hope to use this money to continue to support our group members by providing added resources that will benefit the families within our group. We hope to buy more visual representations of emotions that will allow us to create a more inclusive environment meaning all children will learn more about their own wellbeing.
We also hope to use this money to allow us to celebrate our groups and provide opportunities to share new experiences. We hope to be able to go on a group trip where we can have fun and spend time with each other outwith our usual environment. This money would help us minimse costs and again encourage inclusivity. We hope that this money wil cover the cost so everyone in the group can get involved and no one is left behind due to finiancial constraints.
This group has been a lifeline to many people, and we have successfully run over the last two years. Applying for funding will allow us to enrich the experience of our members and continue to build the knowledge of our families.

Photography for Everyone

It has been proven that engaging with photography can have a dramatic and positive impact on one's mental health. It encourages mindfullness and fulfilment. It can be a solitary activity but it can also be practised in the company of others in a social setting.
Irvine Camera Club (ICC) has a proven record of working with vulnerable people to deliver positive mental health outcomes. Our latest initiative was a collaboration with Ayrshire & Arran NHS to provide photography workshops for patients in recovery in order to give them a new focus in their lives. This was very successful. We are also an active contributor to the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. We work closely with NAC Arts & Culture Team team to support their wider activities and to provide photography services for their activities. Our proposal is that ICC will host a series of photowalks during the summer of 2025, on weekday evenings and at weekends. These walks will be free for anyone to attend and will mainly take place North Ayrshire. We intend to advertise the walks on social media. We will use our regular pages in the Irvine Herald to advertise the photowalks, again at no cost.
The club has the facilities to gather the submissions and to evalutate them. ICC will self fund modest prizes for their chosen overall winner and runners up.
The costs of this project will be in the production of gallery edge-to-edge prints to be displayed at the HAC. We estimate that this will be in the region of £20 for printed artwork on A2 foamex board. We would aim to curate and exhibit 50 images at the HAC.
The overal funding required is therefore £1000.
Once the exhibition at the HAC has finished the art work will be available to be exhibited at other venues across North Ayrshire.
Lifelines

We've created a Suicide Prevention Information Directory to act as a lifeline for anyone having thoughts of self-harm and/or suicide. We distribute as many booklets as we can along with posters with a QR Code link to the online version.
The funding we're applying for would allow the group to:
- Distribute more booklets and posters across the community
- Reach more mental health organisations, local businesses, and education centres
- Reach more people living with poor mental health and wellbeing due to isolation, bereavement, addiction, food insecurity, and the cost of living crisis
- Reach those who have fallen through the net, the hardest to reach, the most marginalised
- Build community spirit by attending mental health and public networking events and coordinating training and holding events
The funding we're applying for would be spent as follows:

Arran Baby Buddy Group

The group welcomes all parents of new babies and young children to meet with others, share ideas and just generally be in a kind supportive space. As parents we really appreciate how isolating it can be at times when you have a young child.
We intend to meet once a week for refreshments, a blether and hopefully a few laughs, but its ok to share your challenges too! For our babies and young children it is a chance to make those very early social contacts that were missed by so many during Covid, to make the group accessible as possible to all parents we would like to run it as a two hour pop up in different villages around the Island each week.
From the fund we hope to purchase early years resources, toys and equipment, pay for room hire with enough left over to buy some tea/coffee and biscuits for a while.

Vennel Friends Discovery Group

All our group members take part in volunteering opportunities throughout the local community and help foster community spirit. Most of the group have now completed the bronze level of the award and are now working towards their silver award.
Through the Hobbies and Interests aspect of the award participants are encouraged to engage in and develop new skills, hobbies and to remain socially active. This social activity helps to reduce social isolation and improves the physical and mental wellbeing of participants. We would like to apply for support to help us provide opportunities for our group to experience a series of new and exciting workshop activities that would contribute to lifelong learning and promote positive wellbeing. These workshops would meet the needs and interests of group members and include arts and crafts, mindfulness and meditation, relaxation techniques, outdoor learning activities and other wellbeing tools.

Pathway into Music

In conjunction with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) and North Ayrshire Council Music Services, Music@Wellwood would organise a Vocal Masterclass with staff from the RCS who can provide guidance, technical advice and possible progression pathways into music for the young people taking part which may include encouragement to join local choirs.
Opportunities such as this have proven to strengthen access to music within North Ayrshire with young musicians supporting community groups and continuing to work within the community and schools promoting music as a career path and as an important educational tool which can continue to be a lifetime benefit.
In addition to an afternoon Masterclass in the Wellwood Burns Centre & Museum, the young people would be invited to attend an evening performance in Wellwood.
Provision of the afternoon Masterclass would cost £350. Attendance of 10 young people (approx. number) at the evening performance in Wellwood would be £100.
Afternoon refreshments for the young people attending the afternoon Masterclass £25. Any costs associated with the use of the Wellwood Burns Centre & Music would be met by Music@Wellwood.
Friends of Redburn Community Group

Our goal is to continue providing community lunches and providing catering services, working in partnership with other local groups and bringing all members of our local community together regularly with a focus on alleviating poverty, reducing social isolation and enhancing mental health and well-being.
Our community group offers free lunches,or takes small donations, to all residents within Irvine, many of whom are affected by poverty, poor mental health, and social isolation and these lunches provide a vital lifeline, offering not only nourishment but also a sense of belonging and connection. These meals foster social interaction, breaking the cycle of isolation and helping improve their mental well-being.
In addition to the lunches, having a trained chef as a volunteer the group now offers an external catering service to partner organisations at cost which generates income, enhancing the sustainability of the group and allowing the group to continue supporting the community. Volunteers who help run the lunches and catering service will receive essential training in areas such as REHIS (food safety), hospitality, barista skills, first aid, and customer service. These skills not only equip volunteers to support the efforts but also enhance their employability and confidence, empowering them to make a meaningful difference in their community and benefiting them in other areas of their lives.
In order to achieve this the money provided would help with running costs for the lunches and provide external training for volunteers.

Our group is so unique. We have people from all walks of life, retired folks, people who suffer from mental health issues, veterans, young teens from povierty who we mentor and try and use nature to distract them from the issue they have, people with addiction issues. We have other groups come and use our woodlands to teach about nature. Scouts and restbite office staff. Lots and lots of folks
We have been doing lots of projects to help with climate change and habit restoration and creation. Aspin tree planting, fruit tree planting, tree maintenance and control of invasive species, wild flower planting. Water course maintenance. So much going on I could go on and on.
The funding we need is mostly PPE funding. We desperately need safety equipment like gloves, waterproofs, safety wellingtons, safety glasses, highviz tops, safety helmets with viziers, ear defenders,

We have also thought about our circumstances in the winter. We currently don't have a proper place to keep warm and boil the kettle. A small stove was our thoughts as it would provide heat to dry off and heat a kettle. We also make a pot of stew in the winter to help warm all the volunteers. Cooking has been a bit difficult but a little log stove would improve that immensely.

Citizen of the Year - Recognition and Celebration

Beith and District Community Council want to make it a night to remember and not just for the award winners but also for the nominees and their families. To be given recognition by the community for the many hours of dedication, loyalty and hard work by volunteers is worth its weight in gold. For volunteers to be appreciated publicly gives them a sense of great positive wellbeing by knowing their skills and resilience are valued and making a positive change to themselves, others and their community. Our event will bring a sense of pride and community cohesion through the discovery of sharing their experiences with other winners and nominees and of course the whole community. We want to provide free travel to support attendees access the event to reduce isolation. Delivering Citizen of the Year event is an important milestone for BDCC in bringing people together to celebrate, reduce isolation and to make new connections and friendships. In the absence of Beith and District Community Council from 2012 until 2017 this activity was delivered by Beith Community Association from 2015 until 2022 however Beith Community Association have now requested that it be returned to BDCC. We are delighted to take this opportunity to reinstate such an important event for our volunteers.
