Irvine Sharks 2024-25

As planned the Irvine Sharks have established in their first year a senior men’s basketball team made up of members all approaching 40 or over. Many who had been inactive over the past years. This has led to a dramatic boost in members physical and mental health. The men’s team completed the season winning the Strathclyde Basketball League Division 3 18-0 and have received promotion to Division 2.
Castlepark Sewing Group

The aim of the knitting and sewing group is to make fidget muffs and fidget aprons/ blankets for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. These are helpful for local nursing homes such as Cumbrae Lodge who give these to residents to help keep them calm and occupied.
Irvine Rangers Supporters Club

The supporters club was founded in 2016 shortly after we formed the Community Social Club within the club to put something back into the community, such as Christmas dinners for pensioners and Christmas parties for children. As in these times of austerity it's hard for most people. The club itself used to pay for it but as stated it's feeling the effects of austerity.
3rd Ward Senior Citizens

We would like to have an afternoon tea for our members. All funds raised would go towards this. An award of £750 would be greatly appreciated.
Templeton Chair

The project seeks to provide visitors with a more informative and easier accessed display of the chair in which Robert Burns sat while in an Irvine bookshop. This will illustrate the central role of William Templeton, the bookseller, in the development of Robert Burns from apprentice flax dresser to world famous published poet.
Coffee and Connect

Children 1st staff is applying on behalf of group. Our coffee and connect group was originally created by Children 1st at the start of 2023 after they were successful in money for their local community. The reason for the group was because parents and carers felt like there was no opportunity to connect with others in their area. Since then, we have grown into a consistent and strong group who meet on a weekly basis at Children 1st space in Bourtreehill. We all have our own family story
Irvine Vineburgh Boxing Club

We are looking for funding to put towards the club, it helps bring young people off the streets and learn how to look after their wellbeing. The club is open to everyone aged 5-95.
Castlepark Community Garden

We would like funding to replace our shed which was destroyed by vandals, this will allow us to restart community growing initiatives and horticulture projects.
Pegasus ASN Group

Our Pegasus group provides a space for people with additional support needs and their carers to come together and have some respite in a group environment. We would like the funding to run 2 bus trips over the next year.
Crossing Together Toddler Group

Crossing Together Toddlers was formed in March 2024 following the project being approached by two local new parents who felt there was a need for a group locally in Bourtreehill. Both mums are now lead participants along with our Mission Pioneer in running the weekly sessions on Tuesday mornings for 2 hours at the Relief Mission Centre. The group quickly reached capacity of 40 babies/toddlers who attend with a least one adult per child. The sessions are free to ensure it is accessible to all.
