Springside Youth Group
Investment project code: 97
Summary
Description
We would like cooking lessons and to buy hobs and ingredients allowing us to plan and cook a healthy menu promoting a healthy lifestyle with a focus on the rising cost of living. We would like a themed party night where the young people can develop important social and life skills such as planning and budgeting. The group is somewhere young people from the Springside area can come together each week and take part in fun activities, spending time with friends. We would also like to experience a new activity such as ski-ing at Newmilns Dry Ski Slope as well.
Funds requested: £1000
Kitchen equipment and cooking resources £600 Fun / Themed nights £200 Ski Trip £200
Location: Springside
Proposed on behalf of: We would like to be able to have more awareness for young people about the cost of living as it is mainly adults or parents who control finances and buy most things. We think it would be good to be able to talk about money more and be able to plan and budget for things such as cooking or planning for an event such as a fun day / night which would both educate the group and be fun into the bargain. We could also look at the benefits of eating healthily and try new foods and meals we have never tried before whilst keeping the cost of the meals as low as possible. We would also like to be able to experience a ski lesson, Springside is a very deprived area and most young people in the area won’t ever get to have an experience like this, By having funding to do this we would be able to take the young people from the area to experience this. This is something that is active and would help the young people stay fit and healthy in a fun way.
