We are a non registered organisation and we're applying for this funding to continue working with people in the three towns. We were successful in receiving funding from this programme last year and our workshops have been well received in the Argyll Centre, CLASP HOPE Project and Saltcoats library. We wish to continue to support groups and individuals to be creative in a variety of crafts including working with textiles, knitting and a wide variety of papercrafts. In addition, this year we wish to extend into Ardrossan.

Proposed on behalf of: This project is a continuation developing creative classes within the community. After lockdown we found it was initially slow to get the sessions started with people still fearful of leaving their homes. Through the 'Chit Chat' sessions provided by the Council we met other community group representatives and quickly linked into their network. From this we provided classes in Saltcoats and Stevenston. This year we would like to provide some taster sessions in Ardrossan possibly through the library. Sessions provided to date include working with textiles: Kantha, Kawandi and Embroidery. Working with yarn, knitting sessions. We have also introduced Japanese paper Embroidery. Ongoing The groups we work with want to build on the skills they’ve already developed and we have a new 6 weekly course starting on the 21st February in the CLASP offices in Stevenston. The group will tackle the issues of upcycling and developing new bags from recycled and scrap materials. The group meeting in Saltcoats Library on Friday 27th February will be participating in a knitting workshops. This group meets every four weeks and a wide ranging programme of activities has been developed encouraging participants to take the lead and share their skills. These courses and sessions will continue throughout the year trying to reach as many individuals as possible and respond to the needs of the group.
